Red Medicine: The Unseen Realms in Indigenous Healing

Patrisia Gonzales is the author of Red Medicine: Traditional Indigenous Rites of Birthing and Healing (University of Arizona Press, 2012). As the granddaughter of Kickapoo, Commanche and Macehual peoples who migrated throughout the present-day United States and Mexico, Dr. Gonzales specializes in Indigenous ways of knowing and Indigenous medicine. She is an Assistant Professor in the Mexican American Studies Department and affiliated faculty in the American Indian Studies Program and the Native American Research and Training Center at the University of Arizona.
